Guidelines for Filming Your Golf Swing

These guidelines are intended for all golfers who wish to have their swing analyzed, now or in the future.
They will help you film your swing simply, correctly, and without stress, using a mobile phone.
Professional equipment is not required.
A mobile phone is sufficient, as long as the points below are followed.

Purpose of the Videos

The videos are used to observe your real movement, without staging.
I am not looking for a perfect swing, but for your usual swing.
The more faithful the video is to your normal game, the more relevant the analysis will be.

Number of Required Videos

Two videos are required.
One face-on view.
One down-the-line view.

General Filming Guidelines

Film in daylight or in a well-lit environment.
Place the phone at hand height.
Use the standard video mode, without zoom.
Make sure the image is stable.
The phone must remain completely still throughout the swing.

Wear contrasting clothing.
Avoid loose clothing that hides movement.
Use a club you are comfortable with.
Hit a real ball whenever possible.

Face-On View

Place the camera in front of you in landscape mode.
The camera must be aligned with your hands.
Your entire body must be visible, from head to feet.
The ball must appear in the frame.
The frame must not be tilted.

Down-the-Line View

Place the camera on the target line, facing your hands, in portrait mode.
The camera must be perpendicular to the target line.
Your entire body must be visible.
The ball and the club must remain in the frame from start to finish of the swing.

Number of Swings

Film three face-on swings and three down-the-line swings.
Keep one well-framed swing from each view and trim the beginning and end of the video so that only the swing remains, about two seconds.
Stay natural.
Do not try to correct anything while filming.

What to Avoid

Avoid videos filmed from too far away.
Avoid high or low camera angles.
Avoid artificial slow motion.
Avoid videos that are cut or reframed afterward.
The framing must be correct in the original video.

Sending the Videos

Send your two-second videos, with the beginning and end trimmed, via WeTransfer to my personal email address prestogolf55@gmail.com.
In the title, enter your name.
